Police continue to appeal for teen's killers

POLICE ARE continuing to appeal for information and witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Welling, south east London, on Friday, (July 1).

Schoolboy Yemurai Lovemore Kanyangarara was fatally stabbed at about 5pm on Friday evening despite the efforts of members of the public at the scene and medical staff to save him.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Plumstead where he died an hour later.

A man was arrested shortly after the incident on Upper Wickham Lane in Welling, but was later released without further action.

Sam Pope, a local florist who discovered Mr Kanyangarara, said he saw three men fleeing the scene shortly after the stabbing.

"I had just gone outside for a cigarette when I saw blood on the ground," the 19-year-old told The Guardian.

"It was not a very nice scene," she added.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
