CHARGED: A Met officer denies assaulting a black teen
A METROPOLITAN police officer has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a black teenager during the 2011 summer riots.
At Westminster Magistrates Court, PC Joseph Harrington denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The 28-year-old has been accused of assaulting a 16-year-old teenager boy at Forest Gate police station on August 11.
Harrington, who has been suspended pending the trials outcome, was granted unconditional bail.
The east Londoner will appear at Southwark Crown Court on July 13.
