Police search for man who threatened people with large knife

DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? Unknown male

AN IMAGE has been released by the West Midland Police of a man suspected of threatening people with a large knife.

The man wanted for questioning was captured on CCTV cameras in the lift of a luxury apartment block in Bagot Street, Birmingham city centre shortly before a man was threatened with the large knife between 9.00pm and 10.00pm on May 20.

The suspect is described as black, aged between 28 and 32, 6ft tall and stocky.

He had a beard and was wearing a black leather jacket with a grey hooded top and dark trousers.

A 20-year-old man from Kingstanding – also wanted in connection with the attack – was arrested last month and remains on police bail.

"Knives have no place on the streets of Birmingham and I am very keen to identify the man captured on CCTV to find out what if anything he knows about the crime committed in May,” said investigating officer, Detective Constable Nick Betts.

Anyone who can name the man in the image should call DC Nick Betts on 101. Alternatively, people who do not want to speak with police officers can call the independent crime fighting charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
