Police seek Chris Brown over alleged assault in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS police want to talk to R&B singer Chris Brown, who has been named as a suspect in an alleged assault during an early-morning basketball game in Las Vegas yesterday (May 4).

The New Flame singer, who ended his probation for attacking ex girlfriend Rihanna just six weeks ago, is believed to have got into an argument at the Palms Casino Resort on Monday morning (May 4), according to TMZ.

Brown, 25, was staying in the hotel's Hardwood Suite, which has its own half court, having flown into town for the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight.

Whilst playing with a group of men at 3.42am local time, an argument broke out with one of them and Brown reportedly punched him.

The alleged victim said when he prepared to defend himself, he said, another man who was with Brown hit him.

"A verbal altercation on the court led to a physical fight and the victim was punched by another male subject who was later identified as 25-year-old recording artist Chris Brown," police said in a news release.

Brown's publicist Nicole Perna, denied her client's involvement in the confrontation.

"Chris is currently in Las Vegas as he is performing at Drai's on May 5th and receiving a Key to the Strip that day as well," she said in a statement. "He has a suite at the hotel that has a basketball court and invited friends to come play. An unruly individual showed up uninvited and was removed from the premises. Chris was not in an altercation with this person."

The alleged victim was treated for injuries at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and released.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police detectives went to the hotel to talk to Brown but the singer wasn't available.

Brown has been given the option of signing a citation for misdemeanor battery, according to LVMPD, or having the case submitted to the Clark County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

The incident comes less than two weeks after Brown settled out of court with another man who accused him of assault during a basketball game.

Malcolm Ausbon filed lawsuit claiming the singer and three of his entourage beat him up in the middle of a game at a 24-Hour Fitness in LA last year.

He sent a letter to the musician's attorney, Mark Geragos, a letter threatening to go police unless he was paid $250k, a move Brown’s lawyer claimed was extortion.

Less than seven weeks ago, Brown was finally released from a six-year probation stemming from his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

While he avoided jail for that incident, he spent two-and-a-half months in jail after he was arrested for hitting a man outside a Washington hotel in October 2013, just one of a number of incidents he was involved in that raised flags with his probation officers.

In March he discovered he is the father of the ten moth-old girl with Texas-based former model Nia Guzman, and is trying to get her to move to LA so he can be in the child's life.
