Premier League stars to support anti-knives football event

FAMILY FUN: The fun-packed afternoon of football and music organised by former Premier League player Kevin Lisbie takes place this Sunday

FORMER PREMIER League players, local football teams and the wider community will come together for the fourth annual anti-knives event organised by ex-player Kevin Lisbie this Sunday.

Organisers say the event, which is sponsored by Kick it Out, will be a fun-packed afternoon of football and music, all in the aid of increasing the awareness of and support anti-knives campaigns and work.

The event starts at 12.30pm on Sunday (July 1) at the New River Sports Centre, Wood Green, N22 5QW. As part of the day’s events professional players will watch and support four local teams, take part in a football tournament and demonstrate their support of those who work to reduce knife crime and address the issues around it.

Jonathan Fortune - Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Utd
Chris Dickson - Charlton Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge
Jobi McAnuff - Wimbledon, West Ham, Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient
Fitz Hall - Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers
Shaun Batt - Dagenham & Redbridge, Millwall, Leyton Orient
Patrick Agyemang - Wimbledon, Queens Park Rangers, Portsmouth
Kevin Lisbie - Charlton Athletic, Colchester United, Leyton Orient
Kevin James - Charlton Athletic, Gillingham, Nottingham Forest, Dulwich Hamlet
Mikele Leigertwood - Wimbledon, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers

The teams taking part in the tournament are: Cray Valley FC, AFC Muswell Hill, Pros United and Takers FC.

Entertainment on the day will also come from DJ sets and a selection of food and drink will be available to purchase at the venue. With a kid's tournament also taking place, the event is one for the whole family to be involved in.
