BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE: Miss Guyana UK contestants with Guyana’s High Commissioner to the UK Laleshwar K.N. Singh at the recent Commonwealth Fair in Kensington.
EIGHT BEAUTIFUL and talented contestants are to find out on today which of them will be crowned Miss Guyana UK.
The ladies, who represent each of the six races that contribute to the make up of the people of Guyana, will vie for the title during the pageant, which is being held at the Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton, south London. It starts at 7:30 p.m.
Among the special guests will be the High Commissioner of Guyana, Laleshwar K.N. Singh and a host of other celebrities, including the current queens of Miss Jamaica UK and Trinidad and Tobago UK.
The host presenters will be Gillian Beresford- Bernard and Neville Johnson. The main sponsor of the event is Caribbean Airlines.
Organisers, Kaieteur Entertainments, told The Voice: “Since 1994, the pageant has become extremely high profiled within the Guyanese community and receives substantial support from the Guyanese High Commission with the aim to support and promote Guyanese culture and tourism.”
