JAIL BREAK: 200 prisoners are said to have escaped Nigerian jail
UP TO 200 PRISONERS are believed to have been freed from a Nigerian jail by gunmen, it has been reported.
The prison, which is in Koton-Karif town in Kogi state, central Nigeria, was attacked yesterday evening, Hadijha Aminu, Nigeria Prison Service spokesperson told the BBC.
Aminu said a large number of men with weapons stormed the prison, but details of the attack were still unclear.
However, she told the news outlet that the authoritities did not believe Boko Haram, the Islamist group, which were behind a massive jailbreak in 2010, had anything to do with this latest attack.
