Ray J pleads not guilty to sexual battery

CHARGED: Singer Ray J was arrested in May following an alleged disturbance in a hotel

R&B SINGER Ray J has pleaded not guilty to groping a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel bar.

Los Angeles County prosecutors said Ray J entered the plea on Tuesday (Aug 19) to misdemeanor charges of sexual battery, vandalism, battery on a police officer and resisting a peace officer.

He's scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on August 28, according to the Mail Online.

According to gossip site TMZ, the 33-year-old R&B singer was arrested for battery, trespassing, vandalism and resisting arrest after causing a disruption in a bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, back in May.

It is believed the I Hit It First hit-maker made contact with a woman's bottom during the incident, but although police initially ruled it was “incidental” contact, prosecutors in Los Angeles charged Ray J with sexual battery.

The singer was reportedly at a hotel bar when he got “rowdy” and brushed up against a woman's bum. He was then ordered to leave.

Ray J, real name William Ray Norwood Jr, allegedly became aggressive in the valet area and hotel security made a citizen's arrest.

Beverly Hills police officers took him into custody and where the singer allegedly spat on an officer, which prompted the battery charge.

It has also been claimed that Ray J, who famously dated reality star Kim Kardashian, kicked out a window of a police car after he was handcuffed. He told TMZ he kicked out the window because he was claustrophobic.
