Reality show based on rapper's "10 baby mamas" cancelled

DROPPED: Shawty Lo

A REALITY TV show based around the lives of rapper Shawty Lo’s “10 baby mothers” has been cancelled.

Following weeks of online backlash, popular American network Oxygen finally pulled the plug on the show yesterday (Jan 15), which followed the lives of the hip-hop star, his 11 children and their 10 different mothers.

A network spokesperson told MTV News in a written statement: "As part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special."

"We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation,” they continued.

The news comes after the emergence of several online petitions and threats of a boycott since plans for the special was announced.

While speaking about fatherhood the They Know hit-maker said: "If I wasn't taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I'm taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don't know what else to say."
