Reggae royalty set for UK tour

VETERANS: Beres Hammond and Marcia Griffiths will perform in the UK this July

THREE of reggae’s leading acts are set to tour the UK this year.

Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths and Morgan Heritage – often dubbed the king, the queen and the royal family of reggae, respectively – will perform a series of dates in cities including London, Bristol and Birmingham this July.

Aptly titled Beres Hammond & Friends, the tour, presented by Base Incorporated marks the first time these three acts have performed together on UK shores.

Base Incorporated MD, Fred Annan said: “We have been bringing Beres Hammond to the UK for over a decade. This year, we wanted to take it to an unprecedented level and who better to team him up with but, the undisputed Queen of Reggae and the Royal Family of reggae?”

Annan added: “This tour will set a new high in concerts which will be hard to surpass, even for us!”

REGGAE’S ROYAL FAMILY: Morgan Heritage are excited to join Hammond and Griffiths on tour

Arguably Jamaica’s most revered male vocalist, Hammond is famed for hits including I Feel Good and Tempted To Touch, while Griffiths is celebrated for the massive song Young, Gifted and Black; her 1970 hit with her one-time collaborating partner, Bob Andy.

Morgan Heritage, comprised of siblings Peetah, Una, Gramps, Lukes and Mr Mojo – the children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan – have enjoyed international success thanks to hits including Down By The River and She’s Still Loving Me.

Of the upcoming shows, band member Gramps said: “We’ve long admired both Beres Hammond and Marcia Griffiths, two of the greatest proponents of reggae. To join them on the stage in the UK making history, will be both a blessing and the achievement of an ambition.

He adds: “Fans of reggae are in for the show of a lifetime.”

The Beres Hammond & Friends tour will take place from July 17-21. For tickets, visit or
