Rice, glorious rice! What would we do without it?

FROM AFRICA'S jollof rice an the Caribbean's rice and peas to paella and risotto - that small grain is an integral part of meal time.

This week (Sept 19 - 26) saw the launch of the first ever National Rice Week.

The aim of the campaign is to help increase consumer confidence about cooking rice at home, educate people about the versatility of rice in recipes and encourage more people to eat rice.

As a member of the Rice Association, who are launching the campaign,
S&B Herba Foods are supporting National Rice Week.

Restaurants and retailers are being encouraged to support National Rice Week with promotional activity and special menus.

Alex Waugh, The Rice Association, said: “We want to dispel the myth that cooking rice is tricky and it’s many varieties can be easily combined into any home cooks repertoire.

"This is an opportunity for all of us involved in the UK Rice Industry to showcase our best products, recipes and information to encourage more consumers to enjoy this healthy delicious grain more often.”
