Rihanna and Lupita N'yongo to star in heist movie

CO-STARS: Lupita N'yongo and Rihanna

A HEIST film created by fans on Twitter starring Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o might be going ahead at Netflix.

The film idea was inspired by a photo taken of the Work singer and 12 Years a Slave actress, which was taken at Paris Fashion Week in 2014. The internet circulated on Twitter and Tumblr earlier this year, with one Tumblr user, @elizabitchtaylor posting the photo and captioning it:

"They look like they’re in a heist movie with Rihanna as the tough-as-nails leader/master thief and Lupita as the genius computer hacker."

A similar statement was then tweeted by @1800SADGAL, which read:

"Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans [sic]".

Lupita retweeted it and said she was up for it if Rihanna was, to which Rih said she was. Fans then called on Selma director Ava DuVernay to direct the flick and Insecure star Issa Rae to write it – and they both agreed.

Now it looks like it might become a reality, according to Entertainment Weekly sources.

According to Entertainment Weekly the film may actually be coming to fruition, as they claim Netflix have landed rights to the film, after ‘beating out multiple other suitors’ and Rae is in talks to pen the script.

The studio are believed to want to start production at the beginning of 2018 after DuVernay is done with her current project.

Netflix declined to comment.
