This Saturday: black professionals prep for Legacy Gala

CELEBRATING TOGETHER: Viv Ahmun and Simon Woolley (L-R) who represent Blak Sox and OBV respectively - just two of the organisations behind the Legacy Gala

THIS SATURDAY join Operation Black Vote (OBV), social action network Blak Sox, the Society of Black Lawyers, event promotors A Few Good Men and Operation Black Vote (OBV) as they present the first Legacy Gala which is described as;

"An elegant dinner show and party for professionals and leaders committed to leaving a legacy".

The groups behind the event aim to close the gap often felt by the discerning, London-centric black middle class who are presented with limited opportunities to socialise, network and have fun in an informal setting.

The night will be hosted by BBC radio presenter and actor Eddie Nestor along with National Ambassador for Domestic Violence Jenni Steele, who will be joined by other popular personalities from the arts and public life such as chart-topping artist Ms Dynamite, Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules, Gospel beacon Lurine Cato, community action catalyst Lee Jasper and Chair of the Black Lawyers Society Peter Herbert. These personalities will be judging nominations and presenting somebody with a lifetime achievement award on the night.

What could easily be regarded as a great excuse to display your sharpest tuxedo or most flamboyant gown without feeling over-dressed, Saturday is also about being part of something that has been sorely missing from social calendars in the UK over the years;

“The Legacy Gala was created to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) professionals...to ensure their legacy is established and sustained - and that their work continues and excels.”

The Legacy Gala is happening this Saturday 3 December from 7pm until late at The Decorium in north London. For your last-minute tickets, go to Black Sox.
