Suge Knight charged with murder after fatal hit-and-run

CHARGED: Suge Knight could face life behind bars

MUSIC MOGUL Marion 'Suge' Knight has officially been charged with murder and attempted murder following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving his friend.

Prosecutors allege that the US record producer intended to run over a friend and another man after an argument.

But Knight's lawyer, James Blatt, claims it was an accident which occurred as his client tried to escape being attacked.

His friend, Terry Carter, 55, was killed and Cle 'Bone' Sloan, 51, was injured in the incident in Compton, Los Angeles.

The 49-year-old chief executive of Death Row Records - the company behind the likes of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur - was apparently visiting rappers The Game, Ice Cube and Dr Dre who were there filming their NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton when a fight broke out between him and two men on Thursday (Jan 29).

After handing himself in for questioning, yesterday (Feb 2) a court commissioner revoked the $2m bail after police said Knight had a violent past and could intimidate witnesses.

He is scheduled to appear in court today (Feb 3), facing four charges which include murder, “attempted, willful, deliberate, and premeditated murder” plus two charges of hit-and-run.

Knight was out on bail in a separate robbery case when the men were hit.

This qualifies as a third strike case for Knight, and he faces the possibility of life in prison, the district attorney’s office has said.
