Support for Williams after missing baby's first steps

Serena Williams has shared her disappointment with fans are revealing that she missed her baby's first steps.

The tennis star took to Twitter on Saturday (Jul 8) and said "She [Olympia] took her first steps... I was training and missed it. I cried."

Williams missed the big moment due to training.

After expressing her disappointment, fellow parents sent messages of support and shared their own stories.

ESPN sports journalist Alison Bender reached out to Williams to say, "I'm with you there," adding that "I watched mine take her first steps on a video."

Another user shared some comforting words for Williams: "She missed you winning 23 grand slam titles but will still know you’re the best tennis player of all time.

You’ll have thousands of magic moments with her don’t worry!"

Williams, 36, welcomed her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., into the world in September 2017 with her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
