Teen arrested over police shooting

ARREST: Police have arrested a 19-year-old after three police were shot at in Mitcham, south London

A 19-YEAR-OLD has been arrested following a shooting in Mitcham, south London where three police officers were shot at.

The unnamed teen is currently being held in a south London police station in connection with the incident that took place on Tuesday.

It is believed that said officers were on patrol at a block of flats in Morden Road at approx 8.40pm when they stopped a man.

As the officers attempted to search the man he produced a firearm and ran off. As he ran off he turned and fired one shot in the direction of the officers.

No officers were injured by the shot - one sustained graze injuries from falling to the ground as the shot was fired, but did not require hospital treatment.

No further arrests have been made at this stage.
