TLC’s Chilli advises women of colour to 'date outside race'

DATING TIPS: Chilli has advice for women looking for love

SINGER CHILLI is looking for love and she has some advice for women doing the same.

The TLC member, whose real name is Rozonda Thomas, told Essence that she was dating outside her race and encouraged other women, especially women of colour to be more open to it.

Chilli, who identifies as mixed-race, said: “I want for women — especially for women of colour — to not be so closed minded when it comes to love.

“God made all of us and you may not find your husband because you’re trying to stick to one group. You’ve got to be open.”

The singer-songwriter didn’t reveal the identity of the man she is currently dating but did say “he is not black” and that it they were “testing the waters”.

She said: “You want the person who’s the best person for you, no matter what colour he is.”

Race aside, Chilli told the magazine that she can often tell whether or not someone is right for her after only two months.

She said: “I usually know after two months…I can just tell. I’ve always known.”

The 47-year-old said that this insight was something that developed with maturity. She said that when she turned 30 she became more sure about how she really felt about situations.

What do you think of Chilli’s dating tips? Do women of colour need to be more open to dating outside of their race in their quest for love?
