Toddler drowns at private swimming pool

TRAGIC: Zaniab Yusuf

A TODDLER drowned following a family swimming session at a private sports club.

Zaniab Yusuf is thought to have wondered off while her mother and father were in the changing rooms with her six-month-old sister, Zarah on Sunday (July 10) at the Esporta Fitness Centre in Manchester.

“The distance form the pool to the changing rooms is very short and it is just an opening not a door,” said gym member Paul Bowden.

An on site doctor at tried to revive the 22-month-old before passing her to paramedic who administered oxygen.

Her father Zakary Yusuf, a company secretary, and his wife Princess, a sales manager, were said to have been hysterical as a paramedic battled to save their daughter.

A police investigation is taking place although there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Her parents who live just minutes from the sports club paid tribute to "bright and lovely daughter".

Mr Yusuf said: ‘Zainab was such a happy child, bright and loving, with a smile that could light up a room. Zainab could never be replaced and will always be in out hearts.
