Tyler Perry is the richest man in entertainment

Film director beats the likes of Simon Cowell and Steven Spielberg to claim coveted title

TOP EARNER: Tyler Perry

TYLER PERRY has been named as the highest-paid man in entertainment, beating the likes of Simon Cowell and Steven Spielberg to the coveted title, it has been revealed.

The Why Did I Get Married director and star earned an estimated $130m in the last 12 months according to Forbes magazine’s annual list - $20m more than his nearest competitor, Pirates of the Caribbean producer, Jerry Bruckheimer.

Steven Spielberg came in third while Simon Cowell made sixth position. Leonardo DiCaprio, the world’s most-lucrative actor, came in at eighth.

Shamed golfer, and most bankable sportsman, Tiger Woods, came it at number 10 with an estimated annual income of $75m.

Perry’s portfolio of movies, which includes For Colored Girls , have grossed $480m since 2005 when he played Madea Simmons in his debut film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman

When you beat out Movie Mogul Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer as the top earner in the entertainment industry you have arrived.

Fantastic news. He needs to continue riding the gravy train while it's paying off. I support his movies though many critics condemn his comedy movies for not being intelligently scripted and showcasing blacks as ignorant.

I must admit his comedy movies did take a bit of getting use to. And then you see it as just comedy.
