BRITISH BASKETBALL League (BBL) fans will be able to enjoy a free live game each week on UNILAD and UNILAD Sport Facebook pages, the former of which has 32 million followers worldwide.

As well as UNILAD showing live BBL games in full for the entire 2017-18 season, they will also be featuring highlights packages and plays-of the-week as the sport continues to get more coverage than ever before.

Every BBL Game is already being shown on LiveBasketballTV (242 games in total) and BBC Sport will be broadcasting 23 live games from December.

UNILAD is a British-based internet media company and website which provides news, entertainment and sport with a social media-first approach. Last year, UNILAD was named the top Facebook page and online video channel in the world, with UNILAD Sport rapidly expanding its reach as well - focusing on Ed Dowdell, UNILAD’s sports commissioner said:

“We are really excited to be working with the British Basketball League and can’t wait for the season to get underway from Worcester on Friday. We’re looking forward to bringing our fans a game each week and showcasing the best of British basketball to our global audience.”

DIGITAL STRATEGY

Meanwhile Bob Hope, BBL commercial director added:

“This is yet another chapter in the story of BBL’s unrelenting pursuit to become a major professional sports league in the UK. Our agreement with UNILAD is a great opportunity and also links closely to our digital strategy, which is evolving rapidly as we try to maximise the growing popularity of the sport.”

Among the first games to be streamed was Worcester Wolves when they entertained London Lions. There was also a bonus on opening weekend, with UNILAD also streaming what was shaping up to be a record-breaking crowd for Glasgow Rocks on October 1.

More than 5,000 fans were expected to be in attendance at the Emirates Arena for their match-up against DBL Sharks Sheffield.
