Usain Bolt talks to The Voice

ON THE MOVE: Usain Bolt after his visit to the cinema

THERE’S MORE sunshine now than rain in Birmingham and that’s put a spring in Usain Bolt’s step as he left a city cinema after watching the latest Batman film with his team-mates.

The world record holder emerged from a screening of The Dark Knight Rises clutching a bag of popcorn and said he was pleased the wet weather was being replaced with sunshine.

It means training will be much easier for the track and field team who are staying at the University of Birmingham and using its world-class facilities.

“I’m feeling good now we’re having more sunshine than rain,” said the triple Olympic champion as security guards ushered him back on to his team bus following the cinema outing.

“Our accommodation and food are excellent and I love being in Birmingham. The people are fantastic,” he added, saying that earlier fears of a back injury were unfounded and he felt on top form.

While Dr Warren Blake, Jamaica’s Athletics Administrative Association’s president, who was also on the cinema charabanc, added: “The facilities are superb and people have put so much thought into making our stay as comfortable as possible.

“We have only had one bad day during training when the weather was so wet we had to train over at the Alexander Stadium where the USA team is based - otherwise everything has been fine.”

Virtually all the Jamaican track and field team attended the specially-organised Batman screening including discus star Jason Morgan and Warren Weir.
