JUST SAY NO: Rio Ferdinand
TWO THIRDS of Voice readers think Rio Ferdinand is right not to want the England captaincy. The Manchester United player took to social networking site, Twitter, to let fans know he wasn’t interested in the role when John Terry was stripped of the role recently.
“I don’t want to be England captain after the last episode. [I] just want to concentrate on playing for United and if I make the squad then as ever I’ll be delighted.”
The debate arose after the FA took the honour from Terry, following the adjournment of his trial for racial abusing Rio’s brother, Anton. The incident is alleged to have occurred during the Premier League game between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers on October 23.
Voice readers believe that the United defender has made the right decision, with only 34% feeling he should accept the captaincy should it be offered to him.
Reports have suggested that Ferdinand clearly feels The FA embarrassed him last time regarding the captaincy and Voice readers would appear to agree with him.

I really admire Ferdinand for declining the England captaincy. He showed most importantly of all, that you do not sell out yourself or your community by allowing yourself to be a caretaker when you are a captain. The man has pride in himself and integrity by the barrow load. Something that cannot be said for Terry, Capello, Suarez or even Dalglish.
I think Ferdinand is right,
I think Ferdinand is right, when black people start showing our utter disregard and disrespect for their institutions, showing them we spit on their captaincy and their honours until they treat us right, the powers that be will not get the message.
One love Ferdinand.
