Vybz Kartel murder trial: Cyber cop 'misplaced crime scene'

TRIAL: Vybz Kartel

HEAD OF the Cybercrimes Unit at the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) yesterday denied suggestions that he had placed the alleged murder scene in the Vybz Kartel trial at the wrong location.

Christian Tavares-Finson, one of the lawyers representing Kartel, made the suggestion to Inspector Warren Williams, who said that it was the investigating officer in the case who had pointed out the burnt-out house in Havendale, St Andrew, to him.

"What you try to prove here is of no value to the prosecution of this case because it is rubbish," Tavares-Finson said to the witness.

The Crown is alleging that Clive 'Lizard' Williams of Waterford, St Catherine, was beaten to death over two missing guns on August 16, 2011, at Kartel's house in Havendale.

Williams, during his testimony in the Home Circuit Court, presented a PowerPoint presentation of a cellular site survey schedule he prepared based on a request he received in October 2011. He said the request was in relation to a murder that took place in August 2011. The survey related to phone calls made and received from several mobile phones. He said the survey he did was in relation to cellular sites in Havendale, Mannings Hill Road, Andrews Memorial Hospital, and Meadowbrook.

Williams said in relation to the alleged murder, he requested a schedule from a previous witness, Detective Corporal Shawn Brown. He said the schedule contained a list of approximately 10 numbers. He said he did a drive-through of the areas and prepared a compact disc. The disc was tendered in evidence.

Under cross-examination by defence lawyer Pierre Rogers, the witness was asked, "This is not the first place of interest that you have misplaced?" He was then asked if in the Christine Hewitt murder case he had placed the murder scene 30 miles away from where the investigator and other persons had placed it. The witness, in responding to a question from Justice Lennox Campbell, said there was a difference between a witness and him as to the murder scene.

Rogers then suggested to the witness that the place of interest on his map in relation to the burnt-out house was different from where the forensic analyst said it was, but the witness said he did not know where others had placed it.

Kartel, real name is Adidja Palmer, is jointly charged with Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams, and André St John for the alleged murder.
