Walk of Stars: Jamelia to receive Birmingham honour

STAR: Jamelia will be honoured on Birmingham's equivalent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame

SINGER AND TV personality Jamelia is to have her name added to Birmingham’s Walk of Stars today.

The mother-of-three will join a host of celebrities and high profile figures from Birmingham who have all had the honour bestowed upon them, including comedian Lenny Henry, Beverly Knight and actress Julie Walters.

Jamelia said: “I'm so chuffed to announce that on On Thursday, September 6 2018, I am being awarded a star on Broad Street's "Walk of Stars" - Birmingham's Answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame!”

The 37-year-old said she had always been a very proud Brummie and that being immortalised in the heart of her hometown was one of the highlights of her career so far.

The singer-songwriter has had two Gold albums, one Double Platinum and seven Top 10 singles in the UK.

The singer will be presented with her award at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. The ceremony will begin at 6.30pm.

She will perform a selection of her songs in front of the audience. Her set will be followed by an intimate Q&A alongside another Walk of Stars recipient and the chair of the Walk of Stars, Jasper Carrott.
