Watson sets up Indian Wells clash against Radwanska

WINNER: Watson will play Radwanska next at Indian Wells (PA)

HEATHER WATSON will face a tough second round tie against Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska after overcoming Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic at Indian Wells.

The 21-year-old British number three beat her opponent 7-5 6-4 in the first round after she booked her place at the tournament in California through qualification.

Speaking about her next opponent, who beat her at Wimbledon in 2012, Watson said: “This will be a different atmosphere, but I'm really looking forward to playing her again.”

She added: “I'm so pleased with the way I'm playing at the moment.”

On the topic of how she will play against Radwanska, Watson said: “I'm not going to give away my tactics, but I'm not going to go in playing the same way I did the other two times.”

The Guernsey-born player, who won a second-tier tournament in the US earlier this year, is looking on track to put her miserable 2013 behind her, and if she can pull off a win in the next round then she will have even more of a reason to be optimistic.
