Website shut down for 'stealing' music

ACCUSATIONS: Serious Organised Crime Agency say RnBXclusive allowed illegal downloads

POPULAR MUSIC website RnBXclusive, has been shut down after claims it caused at least least £15m worth of losses to 'legitimate businesses and artists.'

The Serious Organised Crime Agency [SOCA] called time on the site, which allows people to download music illegally, earlier this week. One man has been arrested.

SOCA stated that the majority of music files that were available online, 'were stolen from the artists', and warned users who had downloaded from the site that they could face jail and an unlimited fine.

RnBXclusive has been accused of obtaining music via hacking, including some files which have not yet been released by artist to the public yet.

The agency also said that during the week running up to arrest, the website had 70,000 users daily and descibed them as 'mainly males aged 18 to 25 years'.

In a statement on their website, SOCA wrote: "Rnbxclusive.com was taken offline following the arrest of a man for suspicion of conspiracy to defraud."

"He has now been released on bail pending further enquiries," they added.

The case continues.
