West Indies stun hosts India to reach World T20 final

HERO: West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell

WEST INDIES men made it a sensational double for the Caribbean when they beat favourites India by seven wickets to reach the World T20 final today (March 31).

Just hours after the West Indies women claimed a World T20 berth, the men should they are up for the fight too in Mumbai.

Lendl Simmons (83 not out) and Andre Russell (43 not out) were the batting heroes as the West Indies looked to reclaim a global crown they last won in 2012.

The Windies were up against it when Virat Kohli smashed 89 off 47 balls as the home side hit an intimidating 192 for 2.

But the hosts, the one-day international kings, did not reckon on the fighting spirit of Darren Sammy’s men. Sammy's men had a run rate of 9.96 per over and completed their victory with just two balls to spare.

West Indies now face England in the final on Sunday.
