Whats The Play? With Anthony 'Play' Douglas

TEAM WORK: Big Tobz and Mr. Play

I HOPE everyone had a nice Easter break? I did, busy, but really nice. Caught up with a few friends, went to a few (quite a few) events and hosted my daughter's "sleep over house party." I'm still finding random pink fluff popping up all over the place. I was at the London Lions Basketball game, acting all hard, only to go in my bag to get my laptop and what came out... Pink Fluff! I know one of my boys who saw it was thinking "Play, WTF do you get up to?!" Lol

It's been a very sporty Easter for me; I went to watch my cousins Devente & Chandler Walters in the 10K Karate Clash, neither of them won the tournament, but I look forward to seeing them both at the 2020 Olympics representing the UK. I just want to say a big shout out and congratulations to Joe Kellaway on an excellent win.

I got invited by the Cut The Chat team to take part in a celebrity charity Basketball match raising awareness of and funds for the ACLT. Yo!!! I must say... Big Tobz can play ball! I was impressed. Also, the piece of B.Ball schooling director Sebastian Thiel gave Capital Xtra's DJ Abrantee – let's just say, if there's an American Football charity event... sign up Abrantee. Abrantee may have missed the ball, but he sure as hell didn't miss the man lol. I caught up with one of the organisers from Who's Got Game and this is what he had to say:

The organiser

WHO IS THE PERSON BEHIND WHO'S GOT GAME?

Dayo Okewale – Founder and Managing Director, also Chief of Staff in the House of Lords, UNESCO Board for Human Rights Ad Integration Leadership and Royal Commonwealth Society Associate Fellow.

WHAT MADE YOU START WGG?

Basketball for me was a real life changer and a way out of my disadvantaged community. Growing up in Hackney with little prospects or opportunities sport created a way for me to excel and grow in life skills and development, I think my motivation was to give the next generation another path and another way to discover their purpose and equip themselves.

WHAT WORDS OF WISDOM WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Believe! All things are possible to those that believe. Circumstances and life’s twists and turns often give us a perspective of doom and doubt and it's important to be convinced of your purpose and a life of consistent improvement and not contentment.

Mr. Play and Guvna B

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

I get to use the game I love (Basketball) to teach life skills and social development to many who feel they don’t have a place in society, I get to combine my passion with purpose and it’s a great and fulfilling calling.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 5/10 YEARS?
I see WGG as a very dominant global brand, a company dedicated to creating social change and development through sport all over the globe! I hope to inspire a generation of leaders to feel as passionate and empowered as me!
