White man told to pay child support for black kids

MIX UP: Child Support Agency have since apologised

A RED-HAIRED white man was told to pay £11,500 in child maintenance fees for two black children he’d never met.

Ian Burrowes spent two months trying to get his name off the Child Support Agency (CSA) records for the two unnamed black girls – even going as far as to hire a solicitor.

However, the CSA refused to believe that Mr Burrowes, 48, was not the father of the two women in their 20s.

"I was stunned," said Burrowes who lives in Kent with his partner and real daughters.

"I’m a pale white guy with ginger hair and these woman were black. It was obvious just by looking at us there was no way I could be their father."

Burrowes said the administrative fault caused by an incorrect national insurance number had left a strain on his family.

The CSA have since sent a letter of apology.
