SNUG AS A RUG: Model wears yellow Podjamma
TWO pioneering businesswomen based in Wolverhampton are gearing up for the launch of their new clothing label, Urbanjunglewear.
Specialising in lounge and leisurewear, the label is the brainchild of community care worker Jacqueline Barrett and non-practicing solicitor Yonic Blackwood.
Spearheading the brand is the ladies’ unique clothing item, the Podjamma; an all-in-one, quilted relaxation suit, created by the inventors to protect wearers from the cold.

“I’m always cold; I literally feel a reversion to cold and was fed-up with constantly turning up the heat,”
Blackwood explained. “So we had to do something. That’s when we came up with the idea for the Podjammas. It’s funky and a cross between a dressing gown and hoodie. It’s like walking around in your duvet.”
The unisex pyjama suit comes in two styles, an all-in-one or two-piece set designed to be worn around the home on the cold winter days.
Started 10 years ago, Urbanjunglewear was a company that bought and sold clothing via eBay. Fulfilling a need, they have since developed into creating unique recreational garments that cannot be found on the market.
Manufactured in the West Midlands and using local models for their advertising, the ladies plan to generate business within their community as they expand into producing t-shirts and other practical garments.
Barrett added: "I’m quite nervous about the launch, but we’re both really excited about it too.”

For more information, call 07961 537 935 or 07801 701 711. The websites www.podjammas.com and www.podjammas.co.uk will be launched on September 24.

I am from Wolverhampton, and must say that it is encouraging to see Black women in business.
I wish them every success.

Well done for starting a business but the word hoodie creates a negative image because whether people like it or not a hoodie is seen as the number 1 clothing of choice for the trouble maker or gangsters.
If it were me I definately woudn't be using that word if I were promoting it.
