Woman charged following alleged racist rant on train

RANT: Woman on a train in south east London

POLICE INVESTIGATING an incident where a passenger launched an alleged foul-mouthed racist tirade on a train have charged a woman.

Video footage appeared online of a woman allegedly racially abusing passengers on a train from Woolwich Arsenal to Abbey Wood in south east London on October 30, which led to the police investigation being made.

British Transport Police have confirmed that 47-year-old Jacqueline Williams from Bexleyheath has been charged with committing a racially aggravated public order offence.

The woman recorded in the video appeared to say: “Go home, go home where you belong... You might have been born here, but I bet your grandparents and your great great grandparents weren’t.

“Yeah, go home. If you belonged here you’d be pink-skinned, blonde-haired, blue eyes, green eyes.

“Go home the lot of you. You make me sick. It’s why the country’s like it f*****g is."

As she got off the train, the woman added: “F*****g monkeys, the lot of you. Go home.”

Williams is due to appear at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on November 9.

“We treat all allegations of racism very seriously and urge anyone with information about this incident to contact us,” said Detective Inspector Jeremy Walley.
