Woman shot in south London crossfire

AN INNOCENT woman was shot during a dispute involving two men in south London yesterday evening, police have said.

The 30-year-old victim, who was hit she returned home from shopping trip in Peckham, remains in stable condition in hospital. Both men fled the scene.

Trident detectives, the Met’s special unit for investigating gun crime within the black community, are investigating and appealing for information and witnesses after the incident on Bournemouth Road close to Rye Lane SE15.

Detective Inspector Ray Keating, leading the investigation, said: "This was a busy area and it was still daylight after 5pm. I am appealing to the many people who were in that area to come forward and speak to us if they saw anything suspicious or have any information."

There has been no arrest at present.
