HAPPY DAYS: Fabrice Muamba with his wife on graduation day
FORMER FOOTBALLER Fabrice Muamba celebrated collecting a degree in sports journalism today three years after he collapsed while on the pitch.
The 27-year-old, who suffered a cardiac arrest in 2012 during his time at Bolton Wanderers, has spent the past two years studying professional sports writing and broadcasting at Staffordshire University in his bid to become a sports pundit.
Photographs of a happy Muamba dressed in a traditional cap and gown accompanied by his proud wife Shauna were shared on social media.
She told Manchester Evening News that she was "elated" for her husband.
"I don’t think it could have gone to a more well deserving person. I am extremely proud of him, especially after what happened to him and what he has been through," she added.
Muamba, who has previously played for Arsenal and Birmingham City, is currently an advisor to the Professional Footballers Association (PFA).
