Slaughter and May is a leading international law firm whose principal areas of practice are in the fields of corporate, commercial and financing law.

The firm’s clients range from the world’s leading multinationals to venture capital start–ups. They include public and private companies, governments and non–governmental organisations, commercial and investment banks. The lawyers devise solutions for complex, often transnational, problems and advise some of the world’s brightest business minds.

Their overseas offices and close working relationships with leading independent law firms in other jurisdictions mean there are opportunities to work in places such as Auckland, Brussels, Berlin, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, New York, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Rome, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and Tokyo.

Approximately 90 training contracts are available per year for trainee solicitors. Slaughter and May also offers work experience schemes at Christmas, Easter and during the summer for those considering a career in law.

Following Law School, there is a two year training period during which time trainee solicitors gain experience of a broad cross–section of the firm’s practice by taking an active part in the work of four or five groups, sharing an office with a partner or experienced associate. In addition, Slaughter and May offers an extensive training programme of lectures, seminars and courses with discussion groups covering general and specialised legal topics.

Applications from candidates of good 2.1 ability from any discipline are considered.

Diversity
The principles of equal opportunity and diversity are fundamental to our continuing success. They are part of our philosophy and an essential feature of our practice.

We endeavour to treat everyone - both inside and outside the firm - with attention, courtesy, respect and consideration. We also aim to ensure that our employment opportunities are open and accessible to all based on individual qualities and personal merit.

At Slaughter and May you will find people from many different religious, racial and social backgrounds. It is our unequivocal policy not to discriminate against anyone - either directly or indirectly - on grounds of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, disability, religion or belief, age, part-time or fixed-term status, or on any other irrelevant or irrational basis.
