WE CONTINUE to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and promote BHF services to Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities throughout the UK. CVD is also called ‘heart and circulatory disease’. It means all diseases of the heart and circulation including coronary heart disease (angina and/or heart attack) and stroke. People with an African Caribbean background are most at risk of having high blood pressure or a stroke, and amongst the highest risk for type-2 diabetes of all the ethnic groups in the UK.

For the past two and half years the BHF has been developing different types of awareness raising initiatives aimed specifically at African Caribbean communities. We also have a wide range of resources available to help the African Caribbean community lead a healthier lifestyle. Small changes can make a huge difference. Find out more at www.bhf.org.uk.
