LOOKING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: The Student Events UK crew
A VISIONARY group of young people look to put a different twist on the act of blood donation.
Student Events UK stage Fresh Blood early in 2008, an engaging talent showcase for young people, whilst striving to enhance the awareness of blood donation amongst the younger generation whilst providing a platform for the gifted members of the multicultural community to showcase their talents.
The first event of the Student Events UK series will take place on March 1 at The Laban in Greenwich in south-east London.
Students from at least 15 universities and colleges in London are to take part in the talent show auditions in January with their focus to qualify for the big day in March.
Among the many objectives of the organisers is to increase the awareness of blood donation by 80% amongst participants, foster a relationship between ten secondary schools/colleges with blood donation representatives.
Student Events UK also want to create opportunities for young people in the community to participate and develop their skills.
The auditions, will be broken down in to four categories: dancing, singing, musical instruments and cultural acts and will be witnessed by a 300-membered audience.
Open to 17-25-olds, the Fresh Blood talent showcase looks not only to expose young people’s talents but to create awareness on a subject that is sometimes viewed with trepidation.
A spokesperson for Student Events UK told The Voice: “These events will provide a platform for the gifted members of the multicultural community to showcase their talents and to educate participants about blood donation.”
* Auditions will be held on January 19, 20, 26 & 27 from 10am – 5pm at the University of Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College Park Row, London SE10. For more information visit www.studenteventsuk.com or call 07810 100 800.
