SCHOOL: Teacher’s aide is among possible positions
BAHAMAS’ PRIME Minister Hubert Ingraham said the islands’ government will pump money into a temporary jobs scheme that would help up to 2,000 out of work Bahamians become employed amidst economic downturn.
The country’s unemployment rate has increased following the negative impact of global economic crisis on traditional employment sectors such as tourism.
"When it is done, it will be for a short time, a specific period of time; probably not longer than six months," Ingraham told the Nassau Guardian.
He said the jobs would involve roles such as being teachers' aides in government schools to ensure that first graders and other students are able to read.
