Angela Simmons defends her interracial relationship

The daughter of rapping legend, Rev Run has hit out at people criticising her relationship with a white man.

19-year-old Angela Simmons, who starred alongside her family in popular reality show, Run’s House has used gossip website, Global Grind, owned by her uncle and music mogul, Russell Simmons to tell those who disapprove of her new relationship to ‘rise above the hate’.

“I am surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend. I find this reality kind of hard to accept. There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people.” She said.

The young entrepreneur, who is the co-founder of Pastry, a successful trainer and apparel line also advised people who have never dated outside of their race to “give it a shot.”

“Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone. It is truly a beautiful thing that can add so much to your life. Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with.

“Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin, to embrace others who are different. I am a firm believer that we are all the same. Basically what I’m saying is love everyone. Rise above the hate.” She said.
