The people's choice GENEROUS: Essien



CHELSEA TEAM MATES Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are vying for the same award.

The Blues brothers, alongside Nwankwo Kanu, are in contention for the People’s Choice gong at the SCORE4Africa awards ceremony to be held at the Sheraton Park Lane hotel in central London on November 30.

Drogba, an award winner last year, and a contender for this year’s health award, recently astonished the public by committing the £3 million he received from a Pepsi endorsement deal to building a hospital and orphanage in his country, Cote D’Ivore.

Meanwhile Essien recently celebrated the launch of his Foundation at the State Banquet Hall in the Ghanaian capital Accra last month.

Another poptential award winner is Manchester City and Wales star Craig Bellamy, who has been shortlisted a number of times in the education and foundation categories for the league he established in Sierra Leone.

The much anticipated gala night will be hosted by actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah.

Among the Judges for the awards is France football legend Marcel Desailly,Brian Oliver, Sports Editor of The Observer, and Farayi Mungazi from BBC World Service Africa.
