Food for thought RAW LOVE: Malachi Talabi and wife Mildred

One resolution many people aspire to at the beginning of any year is to get fit and healthy. One company that is helping people to do exactly that is Raw Love UK.

The company was founded by Malachi Talabi last year, and working alongside his wife Mildred, these two, twenty-something, Christians are enlightening the public about the health benefits of eating raw food by setting up a website www.rawloveuk.com.

They are also running classes that teach people how to prepare a raw food diet, or living food as Malachi likes to call it, comprising of fruit, vegetable, nuts and seeds.

Advocates of a raw food diet state that its followers it are less prone to diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, experience increased energy, weight loss, better digestion and improved skin and that it helps lower cholesterol levels.

Malachi, a football coach, was made aware of the benefits of a raw food diet four years ago. Although he trained regularly and played for a football team, he found that he was always at the back of the training squad and couldn’t understand why. After attending his church, Christian Life City in Hackney, east London, one Sunday

he bought some CDs by personal development guru Anthony Robbins which gave him some answers.

Malachi recalled: “The abundance of wisdom and knowledge that was on the CDs was amazing. He shared what to eat and what not to eat and his comments could be traced to the bible.”

This new-found knowledge caused Malachi to go on a raw food diet. However, it was going on a challenge to eat like Adam and Eve for 10 days last January that Malachi decided to set up Raw Love UK.

He explained: “The physical energy gained made me decide to introduce raw food into our diet. The benefits were amazing. I got clearer skin. The weight loss was immediate; I felt lighter and required less food. It also made me want to do raw food preparation classes for others.”

As far as Malachi is concerned, a raw food diet also aligns with his Christian faith. “I believe a raw food diet follows a divine principle. The bible covers every single area of life.

In Genesis 1:29 God gave Adam a principle about diet, which was to eat fruits and vegetables and Daniel’s diet as mentioned in the book of Daniel was a raw food one. When anyone eats raw food, they experience physical healing on a new level.”

Malachi and Mildred hope to take Raw Love UK to a new level in 2010. As well as educating people about the benefits of a raw food diet, they aim to bring out a range of media materials such as CDs, DVDs, and e-books on the subject and start giving seminars to churches and youth groups.

• The next Raw Love UK food preparation class takes place on January 24 in south London. Visit www.rawloveuk.com to book a place.
