Why sugar is not sweet for your body

Why sugar is not sweet for your body FEELING FITTER: Jason Stephens says he is in better shape after quitting sugar.

Sugar is more addictive than nicotine and heroin, yet it is legally available in every supermarket or corner shop in the country.

Sugar was the main cause of the slave trade as Europeans became addicted to sugar and took slaves to cultivate sugar cane. A few hundred years ago sugar was a substance for the very wealthy, it was kept in a safe place and only brought out on special occasions.

Today sugar can be found in almost all the foods sold in supermarkets because food manufacturers know that once a person consumes sugar they will want more. This is because the human brain releases endorphins a feel-good chemical. Endorphins are a natural opiate like substance and are normally produced when the human body is under stress or pain for example when a person runs a marathon they often report getting a ‘second wind’ or a ‘runner’s high’. This neurotransmitter is the body’s way of pain relief and healing.

There is another way to release these endorphins and that is by poisoning oneself with sugar. The body will then release opiate like chemicals to give a sense of wellbeing and that is why sugary foods such as chocolates are associated with ‘comfort eating’. When sugars hit the digestive system they cause massive chaos creating an instant high and then a massive crash as the pancreas secretes insulin followed by another high with another intake of sugar! Sugar annihilates the immune system and robs the body of vital nutrients. It is also food for yeast in the body that will also send messages to the brain asking for more, hence the sugar craving.

White sugar breaks down the cells in the body because it contains absolutely no nutrients and is almost 100 percent pure carbon. As a result carbonic acid is produced which the body has to get rid of.

The huge quantities involved make it difficult eliminate and can store up further troubles diabetes being the most obvious. The not so obvious menaces of sugar consumption can be: thrombosis, depression, premature ageing and even cancer!

Otto Warburg a Nobel Prize winner stated that cancer cells needed sugar in order to grow. Research has shown that cancer patients with high glucose levels had shorter survival times than those with lower levels of blood glucose. Warburg went even further to suggest that cancer cells were mainly fueled by the fermentation of sugar as opposed to oxygen in normal cells. Cancer cells cannot grow in an oxygen rich environment hence the reason that you will never hear of a person diagnosed with heart cancer. The heart is the most oxygen rich organ in the body even more so than the lungs, contrary to popular belief!

It is vital that you read all the labels on the food you consume if it says: glucose, fructose, maltose dextrose any ‘ose’ do not eat it! As I stated earlier sugar is a highly addictive substance.

Eliminating sugar from your diet will not be easy due to the massive sugar cravings that you will suffer from when trying to quit. I believe that the best way to achieve success at this is to clean your blood then you will no longer crave sugars in fact sugar will make you feel quite sick. Upon my study of the role of endorphins I came up with the theory that if endorphins are produced as the body’s way of protecting you from the damage sugar was causing. Why not bring the body back to the first state of when sugar was consumed?

Upon your first interaction with sugar you probably had a headache and felt nauseas; a bit liking trying a cigarette for the first time, but since that was so long ago perhaps in infancy you would have no memory of it. However by cleaning your blood sufficiently you could return to that initial state therefore disliking sugar. I put my theory to the test with some of my clients who reported an aversion to sugar when following my program. Here is the story of one such person who had suffered particularly with a skin problem before seeing me.

Dear Errol,

Thank you for introducing me to my new alkalizing life/program.

Since the test my energy levels have increased and I no longer need masses of coffee with sugars to get me through the day.

My taste buds have changed and I rarely crave alcohol or sweet things! In fact when I do have them, very occasionally, I no longer enjoy them.

My moods are much improved and I do not feel hungry often. My energy levels are good despite a heavy workload.

I have not had my bi-monthly cold for eight months and recently ran a 10k run without any training.

My skin is noticeably different and feels much softer than before.

Thanks

Jason Stephens
