Author Terry McMillan is gearing up to release the sequel to her best-selling novel, Waiting to Exhale later this year.

Getting to Happy is the long-awaited sequel to McMillan’s 1992 hit book comes a whole 15 years later and will feature all of the original characters made famous by Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett in the 1995 film adaptation of the same name.

Although the book’s official release date is yet to be ann0unced, there is already speculation that McMillan is in talks about a movie adaptation, which is not surprising – its predecessor took four times the amount of money it took to make at the box office.

The movie opened up at number one at the box office with a total of $14,126,927 (£9,163,041.60) which was almost its entire budget and by the end of its run the movie had made over $67 million (£43 million) domestically and an additional 14.4 million internationally.
