
There are not too many silver linings when you lose a Test series 3-0 to New Zealand with a World Championship on the horizon, but England’s beleaguered netballers remain upbeat.
Like the rest of the England team, goalkeeper Sonia Mkloma may have found herself outplayed by the rampant Kiwis, but the 24-year-old believes that triple defeat at the hands of the world’s No.2 team did not tell the full story.
Mkloma told the Voice of Sport: “The final scores didn’t reflect the closeness of the games and we have gained a lot of confidence.”
The Middlesex County player insisted that she and her international colleagues remained undaunted: “With our new coaching team of Lyn Gunson and Waimarama Taumaumu, we prepared well for the series.
“It was also our first Test series with new players and we believe we are serious contenders for a silver or bronze medal in the World Championships.”
