FORMER LOVE rivals Chris Brown and Drake have put previous beefs aside to co-star in a comedy sketch for this year’s Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly awards (ESPYs).

The pair were embroiled in a bitter love war over singer Rihanna, who they both dated, which led to a reported brawl inside a New York nightclub in 2012.

At the time, sources told MediaTakeout that Brown sent over a bottle of champagne to Drake's table, as peace offering following a three-year feud over claims that Rihanna cheated on him with the Young Money star.

It is believed that Drake sent back a message to Brown, which apparently infuriated the Loyal singer.

Drake then allegedly hit Chris in the face before another member of his entourage hit the singer in the mouth with a bottle, leaving him with a gash on his chin.

Young Money founder Lil Wayne was one of the first high-profile names calling for his protégé to end the beef with Brown saying it was bad for business.

Though the pair were never involved in any physical altercations after that night, Drake did use his words to publicly humiliate the singer during a radio interview the following year.

“His insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I’m more popping than him and that at one point in life the woman that he loves fell into my lap,” he said.

However, the war of words seem well and truly behind the pair, who joined forces for the hilarious sketch at the annual awards, which honours an individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year.

In one scene, Brown is tapped to perform an appendectomy on Drizzy instead of an actual surgeon and yells "YOLO!" - a term coined by Drake, before putting him under.

Brown, or "America's Sweetheart ", as he sarcastically introduces himself after the sketch is played to attendees while Drake, the night’s host, is "tied up" backstage.
