GANGSTA’S PARADISE hit-maker Coolio stunned a group of students in Preston when he fulfilled a promise to cook a meal for them that led to the rapper performing his famous Nineties track in their living room.

Coolio was in town for a show, but before the gig he came across the students and promised to cook a three-course meal for them, and took them shopping to buy ingredients.

After the concert, the 50-year-old American star was true to his word and cooked the food at their house and accepted their requests to do a rendition of Gangsta’s Paradise.

Singing along with the students, one of whom was playing guitar, the unique, impromptu performance was filmed and uploaded onto YouTube, and has garnered almost 1.5 million hits.

“[It was] such a crazy and surreal moment, I had to film it”, said fashion student Olivia Johnson-Aley, from Liverpool.

“It is amazing how many people have already watched it.

“We have been getting calls from media in the UK and America ever since.”

Coolio performed at Macs Bar in Preston, where he met the students and made the cooking promise.

Law student Melissa Bryan, 21, from the Isle of Man, added that the famous rapper promised he would “cook for us and he was true to his word”.

She said he cooked “delicious” food comprising Caprese Salad, Chicken á la Daaaamn, and Peach Crumble.

Coolio has global album sales reaching over 17 million, and his most famous hit Gangsta’s Paradise has sold six million copies since its release in 1995.

Seen playing the guitar to Coolio’s rap in the student house, Lorcan O’Mahony, said: “After dinner, I asked if he would perform Gangsta's Paradise and we all got involved.

“It is something I will never forget.”

Coolio is said to have left the student house at 3am to go to the airport and get his plane.
