SINGER DONNA Summer has died this morning following a battle with cancer, TMZ has reported.
The five-time Grammy award-winning singer, who dazzled the world with hits like Last Dance and Hot Stuff, is thought to have passed away this morning. She was 63.
Her publicist has not yet confirmed the news.
Sources say that Summer, real name LaDonna Gaines, had attempted to keep the extent of her illness from fans and was recently trying to finish up her latest album.
She is survived by her husband, singer and producer Bruce Sudano, their daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda and Summer’s daughter, Mimi, from a previous marriage.
According to ITV News, a statement released by the singer's family, read: "Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith.
"While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.
"Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time."
