FUNNY and on point video clips of The misadventures of awkward black girl have set the internet on fire.

Created by Issa Rae, the wepisodes follow the life of "J" as she navigates the paths of life as a black girl.

Filmmaker and writer, Rae said she got the idea for the show after she had grown tired of seeing the same portrayal of black people on television.

"It's frustrating to see the same four to five characters depicted when I know that there is so much more to us than that. We’re way more dimensional and diverse than Hollywood makes us out to be," she told Afripop magazine.

So far nine episodes have been filmed.
