ONLINE FANS of the recent twerking dance craze will have been disappointed to learn a viral video of girl catching fire after falling while doing an upside-down version of the booty-shaking move is fake.

The clip, which has attracted over 11 million views on YouTube, was a spectacular hit following widespread sharing on social media, and was thought to be authentic.

But it has emerged the footage was performed by a professional stuntwoman for American comedian and host Jimmy Kimmel’s TV show.

The video was apparently made and uploaded by Caitlin Heller, yet it was really Daphne Avalon, a stuntwoman who performed the dangerous antics that feature in the clip titled Worst Twerk Fail EVER, uploaded on September 3.

Avalon is seen twerking as she does a handstand against a door, which is then opened from the outside by someone else, the twerking woman then topples over onto a glass table with candles. Avalon then leaps up screaming and appears to be on fire.

The trick was revealed on the September 9 edition of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, with the programme featuring an extended version of the online clip showing Kimmel entering the room to put out the fire with an extinguisher.

The host also had Avalon appear, and told her: “Thank you for helping us deceive the world and hopefully put an end to twerking forever”.
