Actresses give back to budding Brum performers

LEARNING: Cherrelle Skeete

A RISING STAR and a screen stalwart will both be in Birmingham tomorrow (Aug 22) to share their insider knowledge with aspiring performers who are trying to land their first role in the acting world.

BBC actress Cherrelle Skeete, of Call the Midwife and Ordinary Lies fame will be joined by EastEnders favourite Angela Wynters, who plays Yolande, Patrick Trueman’s wife in the top BBC soap.

Both stars will be on hand at The Space in Birmingham after being approached by arts education company Strawberry Words to deliver an ‘introduction to screen acting’ course.

It will offer valuable information to beginners on how to prepare for a TV audition, including techniques, scene study methods and tools for creating an on-screen role.

Cherrelle, who hails from Bartley Green, said: “All of my understanding of screen techniques has come from attending workshops, watching other actors and learning on the job.

“This workshop is me sharing techniques, my experiences and little tricks I have learnt along the way especially being a dyslexic actor – there are some very talented people in our city who just need more resources ands a chance.”
