RUNNING MAN: The striker in action for Ghana

FORMER GHANAIAN international footballer Junior Agogo joked that he’s looking forward to “squashing the beef” during the upcoming AFCAR football match between Africa and the Caribbean.

In the build-up to the May 27 game at Griffin Park, Brentford, the former Nottingham Forest striker told the Voice of Sport (VOS) about his plans after football, his favourite goal and the future of Ghanaian football.

VOS: Rumour has it, that you’re creating a fitness company?

JA: Yes, I’m looking at renting a studio for my business, Agogo Fitness. I work out pretty much every day and my passion is in keeping fit and I hope to share that with other people.

VOS: You’ve scored some good goals over the years, what was your most memorable?

JA: Against Torquay, I went past a couple of defenders and chipped the keeper. However, my most memorable was against Nigeria, playing for Ghana.

VOS: What do you think about the prospects of the current national side?

JA: There’s so much talent in Ghana, but if the country can sort out its off-the-field issues and let the players play – then I’m sure we’ll do well.

VOS: What you looking forward to at the AFCAR game?

JA: The banter. I used to room with (Akpo) Sodje at Hibernian and he’s a good pal of mine. I’m delighted to be able to support the great charitable work he’s doing.
